Bullard FIG Donations
Bullard FIG has been a 4-year effort focused on the athletic facility needs at Bullard High School. With this narrow focus we have been successful in securing funds and a commitment from the district to build a new swimming pool. Additionally, an all-weather competition track, with new infield and lighting, will also be built. These were primary goals of Bullard FIG and we thank all who helped make this possible.
Moving ahead in coordination with Bullard alumni and Principal Starkweather, Bullard FIG is going to reform as a Bullard Alumni Association, run by an alumni board with a focus on major fundraising to support a variety of Bullard needs. For example, Bullard will enter the Fall 2008 semester as a legal education magnet school. In conjunction with supportive local attorneys and the courts, Bullard will have 3 years of funding to develop this program, but will need to develop its own funding resources to continue the program beyond the 3-year grant. Bullard has other needs, as well, including facilities for other activities, such as the arts and music, additional athletic facility needs, library, and so forth.
At this time we have established a PayPal account for Bullard alumni and parents to donate funds so that we can hand over the non-profit organization to Bullard Alumni in good financial condition. We need to address our remaining debt of a few thousand dollars, and we want to leave sufficient start up funds for those who are stepping in to develop this new direction. It is an exciting time for the Bullard community!
