This is the Bullard FIG website. If you are logging onto this site for the first time,
please take a moment to register with your name and email address.
Given the need to have good communication, it is our hope to use this website as both a location for information and as a tool for contacting all FIG members via email. This will serve as our "home base." Please direct other interested parents and community members to this website, so that they can register and can become part of the FIG community.
Our initial meeting for this school year was on 9/19/05, thanks to all who attended. At that meeting we re-affirmed our purpose and identified the direction we need to take...
At the outset, we need to involve people in a variety of tasks and planning groups. Please review the following topics/areas to see if you might be able to commit to some time in one or more groups.
- Establishing contact/relationships with Fresno Unified Facilities personnel. This would involve utilizing existing relationships or forging new ones. The importance of this group is related to the need to develop District support/blessings on plans to develop new sports facilities at Bullard.
- Incorporation of Bullard FIG. As some of you know, we have been fortunate enough to have Darryl Horowitt (Coleman & Horowitt, LLP) offer to provide the legal expertise to establish a non-profit status for Bullard FIG. This group should primarily include the initial officers for Bullard FIG (President, Secretary, & Treasurer). Those interested in serving as an officer should put in their name for any specific office. If we have multiple individuals, we will institute a vote. This group will also establish the initial budget and will coordinate the input from other FIG groups.
- Comprehensive Planning. This group will be involved in bringing together a complete plan of facilities improvement. This includes the football/soccer/track complex, as well as the tennis and swimming facilities. Individuals in this group should have familiarity with other complexes and should be willing to review plans and pursue cost estimates.
- Grant Writing. This group will be involved in the important task of identifying grant writers, reviewing grant options, and assisting in the development of grant proposals designed to secure funds for the facilities.
- Feeder School Connection. Individuals in this group would be involved in establishing working relationships with Middle and Elementary schools within the Bullard pyramid. Those with connections to these schools and their athletic programs would be asked to assist in bringing future Bullard families into the planning and fund-raising activities of Bullard FIG.
- Community Outreach. This group will be concerned with identifying business and alumni resources that could be recruited to provide financial or "in-kind" support for the development of the facilities.
